What does it mean to be a Member?
While it doesn’t sound too exciting to write a policy on membership, we
felt that it was becoming important to know what it means to be a member of
SP River PAL!
Our By-Laws list several types of membership:
Student

Any person current attending any educational
institution either full or part-time.

Membership
dues at this level are set at $5 per year
Individual
-
Any one person
-
Membership dues at
this level are set at $15 per year
Family
-
Any group of related persons living at the same address
-
Membership dues at this level are set at $25 per year
Business
-
Any For-Profit corporation or entity
-
Membership dues at this level are set at $50 per year
Organization
-
Any Not-for-Profit corporation or entity
-
Membership dues at this level are set at $40 per year
Municipality
-
Any
governmental unit
-
Membership dues at this level are waived
Honorary
The Board of Directors as deemed appropriate may grant honorary
membership.

Membership dues at this level are waived
-
Entitled to the privileges and responsibilities of the underlying
membership class.
Member Voting Rights
All classes of membership have the right to vote on issues put before
the membership at membership meeting.
For classes of membership that grant membership to more than one
individual, each individual has the same voting privilege.
Benefits
All members:

Receive semi-annual newsletters

Are invited to the Awards party in May

May participate in SP River PAL events and/or programs
-
May attend any board or committee meeting
-
Should attend the annual meeting
-
Are eligible for participation in the Volunteer Incentive Program
when it becomes available
In addition,
Business / Organization / Municipality receive:

Recognition as a sponsoring organization in the newsletter

Are given
an opportunity to advertise in the newsletter at reduced rates
Length of Membership
Membership is for a single calendar year, running from January 1 until
December 31.
